MONO CLIFFS PROVINCIAL PARK HIKE – BGOW x ARC’TERYX – STRAVA CHALLENGE

Join Brown Girl Outdoor World and Arc’teryx on June 4, 2023, as we the launch a 4-week Stava challenge aimed at getting folks outside and enjoying nature in a way that’s possible and accessible! The goal of this challenge is to track 10 moving hours (in the @Strava app) over a 4-week period whether hiking, climbing, biking or participating in activities using mobility devices.

BGOW is doing our part in helping you get to those hours while spending time in Community and kicking off our summer of fun!

Come join us on June 4th, 2023, at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park for an excellent hiking adventure, scenic views, captivating cliffs, inviting staircases and splendid lookouts. Our hike will take us along some of the most scenic views of the Niagara escarpment.

HIKE DETAILS

Trail: Lookout Trail

Terrain: Moderate

Distance: 6.4 KMS

Transportation: Bussing is provided to and from Toronto at a central meeting location

Cost: $10 (cost subsidized by Arc’teryx)

We will depart from our pick-up location at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at Mono Cliffs just about the time the park opens. Once we arrive at Mono Cliffs, we will start with a land acknowledgement and safety briefing. Snacks will be provided to keep you fed and happy on the hike. This is a group hike which means we will start and end the trail together with no one left behind.

HIKE SCHEDULE:

7:30 a.m. – Pick up at designated meeting spot (For safety, details will be provided to event participants)

8:45 a.m. – Arrive at Mono Cliff Provincial Park

9:00 a.m. – Welcome and safety briefing

9:30 a.m. – Group Hike

12:30 p.m. – Return to parking lot and debrief

1:15 p.m. – Depart Mon Cliffs Provincial Park

2:45 p.m. – Estimated Return to Toronto

WHAT YOU NEED:

Comfortable shoes (hiking or sturdy running shoes)

Water

Lunch (Sandwiches are always great to eat on the go)

Sunscreen

Bug spray

Consider bringing (hat, sunglasses and hiking poles if you need the support)

At the end of the hike, participants will have their name entered into a draw where one lucky participant will win an Arc’teryx prize pack.

Dress for the weather! While we all hope for sunny days, we know the weather can change. Come dressed based on the weather for that day. It’s always smart to pack a light layering option.

The challenge runs from June 1st to June 30th, 2023, with BGOW hosting events in both Toronto (June 3) and Ottawa (June 18) to help you get your hours in!

If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise us in advance of the event. Both Arc’teryx and Brown Girl Outdoor World waivers will be provided for signature prior to attending the hike!
